Schanuzer

By the end of the 19 century the Giant Schanuser became an extremely popular participant at German dog shows. Giant Schanusers do best with older family children and are not the best breed for families with young children or other pets. The German word "schanuser" means "muzzle".

The breed is generally calm but often have a guard dog instinct. Popular breeds of miniature schanusers include toy and teacup miniature schanusers.

Teacup and toy miniature schanusers are often spunky dogs with the lots of devotion and like any other dog miniature Schanuser requires proper and regular grooming.

There are three distinct Schanuser dog breeds.

The oldest and progenitor of the other two Schanuser breeds is the mid-sized Standard Schanuser or Mittelschanuser.

The most popular Schanuser is the Miniature Schanuser with an AKC registration ranking of 10 in 2005. The Giant Schanuser or Reisenschanuser was bred to be a capable and versatile working dog and was ranked 78 in 2005 AKC registrations.

The Giant schanuser was meant to serve the function of a drovers dog and a draft dog and the dogs were also used as livestock guardians.

Positive training will reap great rewards with a Giant Schanuser.

The Giant Schanuser is a beautiful dog and she makes a great watch dog and guard dog. Most dog breeds have certain inherited health problems associated with that specific breed and the Giant Schanuser is no exception. Remember; avoid feeding your dog sweets.

Getting a dog can change your life.

These dogs are real small, 12 to 14 inches high. Miniature schanuser needs brushing and trimming every month. This breed of dog sheds little to no hair and is a good breed for allergy sufferers.

Most people feel that female dogs are going to make better pets for them than male dogs.

The Miniature Schanuser is a feisty and playful dog. Dominant older Miniature Schanusers dogs will respond well to the total "social attraction" regimen of training with praise and leadership too. The aim was to create a smaller breed of standard Schanuser which proved successful.
