The Minature Schnauzer, which originated in Germany in the 19th century, is the outcome of the result of crossbreeding between the standard size Schnauzer and one or more smaller breeds like Miniature Pinscher or Affenpincher. The aim was to create a smaller breed of standard Schnauzer which proved successful. Like any other dog the minature Schnauzer requires proper and regular grooming. The wiry coat is easy to take care of.
The breed is generally calm but often have a guard dog instinct. Popular breeds of minature schnauzersare often spunky dogs with the lots of devotion. These dogs are real small, 12 to 14 inches high and love to be held and pampered.
The Minature Schnauzer is a feisty and playful dog. It tends to be overtly active at times and often gets hurt in the process. One should be extremely careful while playing with it. Any animal smaller to them can suffer the attack of Minature Schnauzer.
Dominant older Minature Schnauzers dogs will respond well to the total "social attraction" regimen of training with praise and leadership too. They need daily, long, brisk walks. They love to play off leash. This breed of dog sheds little to no hair and is a good breed for allergy sufferers.
Minature Schnauzers are small dogs that make good family companions, are usually fairly healthy, require little exercise and shed very little but, as with all breeds of dogs, require strong pack leadership to prevent behavioral problems and require regular grooming but they need brushing and trimming every month.
